Today (4/9/2013) is the ending of one phase of our lives and the beginning of a new phase. We have made a decision to build a home on our RV site. We will no longer live full time in our motorhome. She will be our second home, our traveling home. So as we leave the park, we say good bye to one phase of our life and hello to new phase. We look back on these past eight years with great happiness and smiles for all we experienced and look forward to the future with great anticipation. .

In addition, we will now be able to begin to install the TV in the living room and hang the artwork that has been stored in St. Louis at our friend Carolyn's house. We thank you Carolyn for making it possible for us to still have those items that are so important to us. We are anxious for you to come visit so we can share with you that which you have made possible.
And so we toast Carolyn also for her friendship through all these years and for all of the important and fun times she has shared with us.

Most amazing........ everything fit just as we envisioned it !!
We must give credit where credit is due. In the beginning our home was a vision and a dream. We would never had been able to see it as it is and as we wanted it to be if it weren't for our friend Kaye Mears. Way back in February we mentioned to her that we wanted to design an Arizona room that would blend with our park model. We had ideas as to what rooms we would love to have but had no idea as to how to design them or how to draw a diagram for a contractor. So one evening over a glass of wine we were discussing this with Kaye. She said, "Draw what you want." So I took a small yellow pad and with a pencil I scribbled several adjoining boxes and wrote room names in them. Kaye took my scribbles home; an hour later she had drawn to scale our dream. Thank you Kaye.
We toast you !!

The next big challenge-moving the refrigerator
As you have seen from the photos along the way, the refrigerator is an oversized refrigerator and has been sitting in the dining room first and then the kitchen. Finally once the flooring was down, it was time to move it into its slot.
It was a challenge....the doors had to come off, it had to be maneuvered through the hallway with about an 1/2" leeway, turned around, and then slid in. Our biggest concern was how far it would protrude into the hallway.
Three and 1/2 hours later, the refrigerator was in its place
and all was good.

And now a week later and the inside is almost done !!
The inside work is almost done now. The walls are painted and many of the doors are installed.
The biggest job was the flooring and that is finished.
We are very pleased with how the granite countertops and the floor tile looks in the kitchen. The seam line that you see is between the laminate floor and the porcelain tile.
By Friday all should be complete and we can show you pictures of each room.

And now he is checking out the hallway. |

This door will be the entrance to our office. |
This is our living room. As you can see, it is the storage place for future items to be installed. |

The outside is almost complete
Looking at our new home from the outside, it no longer looks like two separate structures.
All that is left to do on the outside is finish painting, put railing on deck, and install electrical outlet and water spigot.

And now another week has passed......
The walls are no longer 2x4's. We spent 3 hours last Sunday, just Barb and me, planning where the electric outlets will go, where the switches go and where the plumbing for the washer/dryer, bathroom and outside water spigot goes. We then met with the electrician and plumber on Monday. By the end of the day, we had it all.
The construction guys were working in 100+ degree weather in the direct sunlight without any shade. I do not know how they did that every day. They would start around 7:00 am and work until 3:30 pm.
Next the insulation is in, the dry wall is up; the mud is over the seams and we have distinctive rooms.

Once the outside walls were installed, we could actually see what the AZ room would look like from the out side. In this photo we have the front walls, the windows and the awning.
Notice the newspaper on the floor. That is our living room with the sofa facing the long wall and the love seat on the side |

Barb entered the front door for the first time. The archway is the entrance from the AZ living room to the kitchen in the park model. |
