Good bye to tornadoes, wind and rain

We left Wichita on Saturday and stayed in Liberal, KS, our first night on the road.  Liberal is the location of Dorothy's home.  After more than a week in Kansas with rain, thunderstorms and tornado threats, we were beginning to wonder if we, too, would end up in The Land of Oz.
It was with relief that we looked at each other and said, "Dorothy, we are no longer in Kansas."

Little did we know or suspect that our next night in Tucumcari would be worse.  Around 8:00 pm the winds started up.  Boy did we rock.  After putting all of our slides in and lowering the satellite, we just sat there and hoped that when the wind stopped, we would still be in the same place.  When I checked this morning on the news, I found out that the wind for about 3 hours was 35 mph with gusts at 65 mph.   We never want to experience that again!!!

So today we are really away from the storms and entering the "Land of Heat."  We are just outside of Albuquerque and experiencing our first 90+ degree weather.  I think this is our gradual re-entry into the triple digit heat of Arizona. We will stay here 3 nights and expect to be arriving in Apache Junction about a week.
